Mom got me a little sewing machine for Christmas. I found some scrap fabric and sewed up a little hammock for my rats (which lasted no longer than 3 hours before being torn down). I need a real project.
My cousin Kacie is having TWINS in June, which means an opportunity to sew some baby stuff. I found an awesome Amy Butler pattern for a large diaper bag that I think I’ll try. Reviews say it is pretty simple but really, I had to get my boyfriend to find the bobbin in my sewing machine for me… and show me what it looked like and how to thread it up. I’m still not entirely certain of the difference between spool and bobbin. So this will obviously be a huge project…
My all-time favorite fabric website is TonicLiving.com. I’ve ordered from them a bunch for upholstery and curtains. They are quite expensive but look at the patterns! This is the fabric I picked for the outside of the bag:
I had a coordinating lining fabric picked out but figured I could pick some up cheaper at JoAnn’s instead of spending $45 on fabric alone.
Now I just have to wait for everything to get here to start. Wish me luck! (I hope Kacie doesn’t read my blog…)
