I have been staring at this pattern for probably a year now. Everyone says it’s pretty difficult… zippers, cording, all that fun stuff. But in response to asking for help with the diaper bag, someone at Amy Butler offered me a free pattern and of course I chose this one. Look at it, it’s so beautiful in all its retrofied glory! I have to recoup after the diaper bag project. It took a lot out of me. But after I find all the fabric and supplies, I’ll get started.
Nice blog writeup about making this bag here.
Thinking of using this pattern. But again, in no rush.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I have a St. Patrick’s Day parade to go watch downtown.

Hi, I have made the Weekender pattern 3 times now. It is a difficult pattern to sew because of all of the interfacing/piping, etc. I have a crappy zipper foot so that adds to the drama because about 1/2 of the bag is sewn with the zipper foot.
It is a great pattern though and very easy to follow. I adore the results which is why I have made it three times. (Swearing through one particular step each time!)
I definitely recommend making it at least once. I promise that the pain and struggling will be worth it in the end.
I have pictures of one of my bags on my blog if you were interested in seeing it.
