Avelyn’s Princess Dress

Posted on Oct 14 , 2010 in Blog

I made my 3 year old daughter a princess dress for Halloween using a McCalls pattern, it was much harder to complete than the bags I’ve made (I have another almost done, but that will have to wait – it’s a birthday gift!). The skirt part is so gathered that the material would hardly fit under my machine’s foot. This is a recurring problem, I desperately need a new sewing machine! It’s either shell out $250 or wait for Mom to buy me one for my birthday. I guess I’ll struggle through for another month. But overall the dress will be great for halloween. I was lazy for a few parts, I used Fabri-Tac to install the zipper. I tried going without a zipper altogether… but it took about 5 minutes to get the dress off of Avelyn. I think I’m done with clothing and sticking with bags. Especially since clothing is so cheap to buy… in most cases.
